1985 REPCO TEAM HOTFOOT

The first frame I could find to build when I got back into BMX in early 2011: the Team Hotfoot, a classic Aussie local hero. I soon parted out the build as I moved onto other things, but it was a great place to start!

Even with the compact 18″ top tube the Team Hotfoot was fun to ride and the full chromoly aero-tube frame made it light enough to throw around. A lot of love and a minimal amount of cash went in to this build. Stand-out (and most fun!) refurbs include…

  • Full restoration and rebuild of OGKs and Shimano coaster
  • Sugino Mighty 3PC – re-file of drive side square taper, polish, anno detailing
  • Polish and re-anno for SR MS-420 stem
  • Vector design and professional repop of OG decals

Scroll down below the photos of the finished build to see some before and after shots of the restored parts.

Restoring pre-loved parts is one of my favourite aspects of building old school bikes. I’d most often rather find a part that’s a diamond in the rough, overlooked by most and make it my own, even better than new, with some ingenuity and some elbow grease. For me there’s a lot more pride and satisfaction to be had looking at a finished build made up of parts that I transformed with my own two hands, especially when the finished product looks like a million $$! Here are a few before and after pics of some of the parts I restored for the Team Hotfoot:
